Blood Rage: Fire Giant

This guy was done back in July of 2014 and might have been finished a bit sooner if I hadn't lost a piece of it while sculpting. Yup... That's right. While working on the sword arm a part of the head dress fell off and disappeared right in front of me. After searching for an hour I gave up and began re-sculpting the part. It added a few extra days to get it completed and I was angry the whole time. I hoped that I would never find the missing part rather fantasizing it vanished like a mystery to lead a life of adventure in some far off land rather then finding it in some obvious place a few days after sending it off Mike. About four months though after putting it in the mail I found it's hiding place and there was much head-smacking and grumbling. I still have the piece sitting on my shelf of failed parts and I glower at it from time-to-time.

The original concept art did not show any anatomy from the shins down, I was getting a heavy gorilla feel off of his pose and general build so I asked Mike if it was OK with him to give it prehensile feet and he as fine with that. So, if you don't like that part about him you can blame me, (Sorry Mr. Smith!)
See all those skulls? Remember in the Blood Rage Troll post I mentioned I sculpted a 28mm skull and made a mold for it? This is why. I think he's got somewhere around 16-18 skulls in his locks... So, yeah. That saved some time.
I think one of the major things I would have liked to do on him would have been a bit of a scenic base, like the Frost Giant has. If I could have added a bit of angled rock to have his standing leg poised on to make it look more like he was vaulting from a height down onto someone it might have made him more dynamic. Oh well, hindsight 20/20 and all that.

The Fire Giant was sculpted using Fimo, green stuff, Magic Sculpt and cast resin parts. Took about 2 weeks to finish, maybe three. Pictures and paint-job provided by Rogland Painting Services, Concept by Adrian Smith.

Blood Rage: Troll

Is it just me or do I sculpt trolls a lot? This guy is for the new Blood Rage game that's to be released by Studio McVey and Guillotine Games and he was the first figure I did for the line, (the Frost Giant being second.) Since pictures have been posted on their Facebook account I'm now posting the work pictures on my blog.
I'm still on the fence about how he turned out, I'm not sure about my interpretation of the art and it's mostly the head shape that I worry about. Since there was no turn around for the head detail everything is based off of his profile regarding the shape and width of the skull and features, hopefully it's just me second guessing myself and he will be received well.
He was sculpted in Fimo, greenstuff and the human skull is a resin cast of a skull I sculpted for details like this. (I'm not sure if people realize how often I have to sculpt human skulls.) Anyway, he's  ready for Trollhammaren.

Blood Rage: Frost Giant

Long time, no post. But that is because I work in secret, shunning the light of day and company of people so that I may bring you THIS! ...But only once it's officially announced. A few days ago the Facebook page for the new game, "Blood Rage" went up and now I can talk about it and post pictures.
This guy was one of four figures Mike McVey asked me to sculpt for the game and I think one of the ones that turned out the best.

I included a Zombicide survivor figure in with the last picture for a scale reference so it might help with questions on just how big he is. He was sculpted using mostly Fimo and was finished up May of this year. As you can see from the concept art he is stomping through some deep snow and I needed to extrapolate that part of the anatomy to sculpt his feet (not that big of a deal) but also try to capture that, "I'm standing on a mountain" feel that he has, so having one leg perched on a rocky crag seemed the best approach to that.

Here is a last set of pictures showing off the progression of the sculpt, probably not that interesting but who knows?

Little sins

I'm not sure what the official name for these guys are so my nicknames for them have been, "Hound" for Wrath...

...And "Meatball" for Glutton.

These guys are smaller then any of the major sins as you can see by the Zombicide figures I included for scale. I can't share the concept art since it hasn't been released to the public yet but I'll post it when it is.
So, ummmmm... Yeah. That's pretty much it. Sculpted in Fimo and greenstuff.
